Mary Hart Violets Yard Long Print.
This very sweet print is the work of the Victorian artist, Mary Hart (a peer of both Paul de Longpre and Catherine Klein). Mary Hart was called "the violet artist", and her works are highly prized. This print is antique, printed in 1896, and is a lovely casual grouping of both purple and white double violets. There is a ribboned violets nosegay at the center, and a vase holding more blooms. The artwork is superbly executed, signed lower right. The colors are as bright as the day it was printed. The print was made for the Art Interchange Magazine, a popular art magazine of the period. The print is a chromolithograph, and all the color layers align in perfect register. It is in very good condition without fading (please refer to the photos for condition). The far right edge has a very light roll mark, not distracting, but mentioned for accuracy. This piece is housed in a gold painted wood frame that has burnished brass ribbon embellishments at each corner. Overall size is 10.25 x 36.5 inches, perfect for Mother's Day, or a birthday.
